What is Cooke's Modenas?
Cooke's Modenas is a
successful Modena pigeon loft located in Spencer, Iowa. The loft is owned and operated by Dave Cooke. Dave has been involved
in pigeons since he was ten years of age and most of that time he has
bred Modena pigeons.
The Modenas he raises
today are the result of a project he has been developing for twenty
years. The main color and variety has always been the White Schietti.
The last five years Dave has been involved in developing a bronze family
from his whites and an outcross. The majority of his bird's pedigrees
include a white hen number 84 that he named "granny." That bird came
from Mr. Paul Ober and Dave credits that bird for taking his family of
birds to the level they are today. With a strict breeding regimen,
he can accurately determine the youngsters resulting from a pair of his
birds. Dave strives to have the nice frontal, a bull neck and gate
post legs on all of his Modenas. Dave prides himself in not having a
bird in his loft that doesn’t have the majority of these features.
